The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/a> was in action this weekend with the <\/span>Central Florida Series Alaqua Classic <\/b><\/a>in Longwood, FL. The National Series had a second consecutive weekend off in anticipation of the <\/span>2019 Tar Heel Classic <\/b><\/a>next weekend in Chapel Hill. <\/span><\/p>\n

Central Florida Series Alaqua Classic <\/b><\/h2>\n

In the box on the first tee at Alaqua Country Club<\/a>, the future of women\u2019s golf stood in the spikes of who they one day strive to become. Staring down the very same fairway that the LPGA<\/a>\u2019s rising stars on the Symetra Tour<\/a> survey on their first drive of the IOA Golf Classic, the PKBGT\u2019s Central Florida members competed on a Tour-tested course for the <\/span>two-day regional Classic<\/span><\/a> in Longwood, FL. <\/span><\/p>\n

At Sunday’s end, <\/span>Caroline McConnell <\/b>(South Fayette, PA 2022) took home champions honors in the Prep Division after firing a two-day total score of 81, 83 = 164 (+22). <\/span>Morgan Stephens <\/b>(Sanford, FL 2020) won the Futures Division after posting a two-day score of 83, 85 = 168 (+26). At her home course, <\/span>Mara King <\/b>(Longwood, FL 2025) brought home the Discovery Division trophy after posting a one-under-par weekend score of 37, 36 = 73. <\/span><\/p>\n

Movement Monday <\/b><\/h2>\n

It was a quiet weekend in the PKBGT rankings as all National rankings remained intact. The Alaqua Classic<\/a> left several of the top finishers in a similar position on the Storie Apparel<\/a> Central Florida Order of Merit rankings. Around the Tour <\/b><\/h2>\n

The <\/span>National Series<\/b> returns with the 2019 Tar Heel Classic this weekend in Chapel Hill, NC. With a rich history of high-level competition<\/a>, the 10th anniversary of the event held at the home course of the UNC Tar Heels Women\u2019s Golf features some of the top-ranked players<\/a> on the PKBGT Performance index<\/a> and promises to be a close contest. <\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Central Florida Series <\/b>next event will be at Rogers Park GC in Tampa, FL<\/a> on March 30th. Registration for that event is open until <\/span>Monday, March 25th.<\/b> Registration for the first event of the <\/span>North Carolina Series <\/b>season at Longleaf Golf and Family Club<\/a> on March 16th remains open. The deadline to enter that even is <\/span>Monday, March 11th.<\/b><\/p>\n

About the PKBGT<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls\u2019 golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player\u2019s pace.
