On Sunday, March 3rd, the 2019<\/span> Peggy Kirk Bell Girls\u2019 Golf Tour<\/span><\/a> played the final round of the<\/span> Central Florida Series Alaqua Classic<\/span><\/a> at Alaqua Country Club<\/a> in Longwood, FL. The PKBGT is excited to be working in partnership with<\/span> Insurance Office of America <\/span><\/a>as the presenting sponsor of the series for the second year in a row!<\/span><\/p>\n

These PKBGT regional events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. <\/span>The PKBGT Series Progression<\/span><\/a> allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage\/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prep Division<\/b><\/h2>\n

Bringing home the trophy in the Prep Division was <\/span>Caroline McConnell <\/b>(South Fayette, PA 2022)! McConnell finished the tournament with a total score of 81, 83 = 164 (+22). Finishing runner-up with a two-day score of 95, 89 = 184 (+42) was <\/span>Sarah Fox <\/b>(Lakeland, FL 2021).<\/span><\/p>\n

Futures Division<\/b><\/h2>\n

In the Futures Division, <\/span>Morgan Stephens <\/b>(Sanford, FL 2020) took home the championship after posting an two-day score of 83, 85 = 168 (+26). In second place was <\/span>Abigail Fernandez <\/b>(Windermere, FL 2023) who finished the tournament with a score of 84, 87 = 171 (+29).<\/span><\/p>\n

McKenna Murphy <\/b>(Sanford, FL 2025) improved by 15 strokes in her final round, closing the weekend with a score of 97, 82 = 179 (+37) to finish third. In fourth place with a weekend total of 94, 87 = 181 (+39) was <\/span>McKenzie Coody <\/b>(Orange City, FL 2024). <\/span><\/p>\n

Rounding out the top five was <\/span>Darby Hancock <\/b>(Lakeland, FL 2025) with a two-day score of 99, 91 = 190 (+48). <\/span><\/p>\n

Discovery Division<\/b><\/h2>\n

In the Discovery Division, <\/span>Mara King <\/b>(Longwood, FL 2025) topped the leaderboard with a weekend total of 37, 36 = 73 (+1). Her second win of the season came at her home course where three birdies paved the way to an even-par final round. <\/span>Kelsey Douglas <\/b>(Orlando, FL 2027) came in second place with a two-day score of 43, 48 = 91 (+19). <\/span><\/p>\n

Finishing in a two-way tie for third place, <\/span>Briel Royce <\/b>(Orlando, FL 2027) and <\/span>Brynn Pressimone <\/b>(Longwood, FL 2026) each finished with weekend totals of 92 (+20). Royce shot a 50 in the first round and 42 in the second round while Pressimone was consistent in shooting 46 in both rounds. <\/span><\/p>\n

Closing out the top five was <\/span>Riley Fletcher <\/b>(Winter Springs, FL 2025) with a two-day score of 55, 49 = 104 (+32).<\/span><\/p>\n

About the PKBGT Regional Series<\/b><\/h2>\n

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels but are a great place for development golfers to \u201cget into the swing of things\u201d playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The Central Florida Regional Series is part of the PKB Girls\u2019 Golf Tour, the nation\u2019s largest \u201cgirls\u2019 only\u201d junior tour.<\/span><\/p>\n
