Mckenzie Weddle (Floyd, VA 2023) began her final round seven shots off the overnight leader. That lead diminished halfway through the front nine. Weddle’s eagle on the eighth pushed her within a shot of the lead heading into the final nine. Around the same time as Weddle was dropping her eagle putt, Gianna Papa (Foster, RI 2025) and Caleigh Street (Jewell Ridge, VA 2021) found themselves atop the leaderboard after Victoria Matthews (Great Falls, VA 2023) couldn’t keep the squares off her card. When it was all said and done, Weddle, Papa, and Street signed for a two-day total of 147 (+3). They would be playing extras to decide the champion. Weddle would be the one celebrating her first PKBGT Bell National title on the green winning on the first playoff hole. Macy Johnson’s (Salem, VA 2023) round of 71 (-1) at her home club beat out Matthews for fourth in a scorecard playoff.
Like the Bell division, the overnight leader did not hoist the trophy at Hidden Valley Country Club. Jennifer Osborne (Ashburn, VA 2024), no stranger to playoffs in the commonwealth of Virginia, lost in a lengthy playoff just a few weeks back at the Kandi Comer Girls Classic. After Osborne’s smooth swing with her gap wedge on the 110-yard par-three third fell into the cup for a hole-in-one, it seemed fate was on her side as she defeated Lily Hollberg (Moseley, VA 2025) in a one-hole playoff to continue her great year of playing. Osborne has yet to finish outside the top 13 in an event this season on the PKB Girls’ Tour.
