Richmond Classic @ Hunting Hawk GC Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off this weekend with the Richmond Classic @ Hunting Hawk GC. Hunting Hawk GC is a challenging course for this two day event. The event features a field of 36 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 14 players highlighted by two of the top 10 players of the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including returning 2010 event champion and 1st position on the Order of Merit list, Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, VA 2014). In addition to Anderson, PKBGT PKB Foundation Classic @ Pine Needles runner-up Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015), currently in 7th position on the Order of Merit list, will be looking to claim her first victory of the 2012 season. Allison Cooper (Harrisburg, PA 2015), currently in 16th position on the Order of Merit list, will also play this weekend.  Cooper has finished in the top 15 at all three PKBGT events she has played so far in 2012.

The Futures Division field features another strong field with 21 players from across the region. Four of the top 10 players on the Order of Merit lists are in the field, including Kristen Herp (Salem, VA 2016), the winner of last week’s Palmetto Classic @ USC Cobblestone Park GC and currently 2nd position on the Order of Merit list. After being runner-up to Hearp last week, Naomi Mitchell (Norfolk, VA 2018) is ready for her first win of the 2012 season.  Rounding out the top 10, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) and Elizabeth Rand (Asheville, NC 2013). Both finished in the top 20 in all the events they have played this season.
