Recap: North Carolina Series at Wildwood Green GC

Greensboro, NC – On Sunday, August 28th, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played a North Carolina Series event at Wildwood Green Golf Club.

The North Carolina Series headed to Wildwood Green Golf Club on Sunday. Players were eager to get their rounds underway and take on the challenging course. At the end of the rounds and three playoffs, three champions were crowned.

Prep Division

Jillian Fatkin (Oak Island, NC 2024) defeated Sloane Spessard (Raleigh, NC 2024) in a playoff to claim the Prep division title. Fatkin made two birdies on her round and played her last 7 holes in one-under to get into the sudden-death playoff. Spessard made pars on 7 of her first 9 holes and matched Fatkin’s round of 77(+5) and finished second. Breannon Council (Wilson, NC 2024) made two birdies and shot an even-par 36 on the back nine to finish in third. Mary Earhart (Pinehurst, NC 2024) made pars on 7 of her last 8 holes propelling her to an 81(+9) and fourth place finish.

Futures Division

A playoff was needed to determine the Futures division champion. Following her round which included two birdies, Nadeen Elkassem (Raleigh, NC 2025) came out of the playoff victorious. Madison Park (Charlotte, NC 2026) finished runner-up and carded four birdies on Sunday. Sarah Enright (Wilmington, NC 2024) birdied the par-5 7th and finished in solo third place. Aviva Wang (Cary, NC 2026) started the round on the right note with a birdie on the first hole and would finish the tournament in fourth place.

Discovery Division

Just like the Prep and Futures division, the Discovery division ended in a tie for first place. Makenzie Aaron (Browns Summit, NC 2029) and Kayla Jackson (Charlotte, NC 2031) both scored 37(+2) and tied for first. Both players made one birdie and six pars during their round. Aaron would end up winning in a playoff. Addy Arnold (Marvin, NC 2028) made four pars during her round and finished in third place. Zoe Jeon (Raleigh, NC 2032) made an impressive four birdies over her nine holes and finished in fourth.

Closing Remarks

We would like to extend our greatest thanks to the entire staff at Wildwood Green Golf Club for their incredible hospitality. This weekend provided a challenge for all of our competitors and we would like to congratulate all of our top finishers at the North Carolina Series at Wildwood Green GC.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
