Twenty-seven. That’s the number of PKBGT titles earned by 5 different competitors playing in the Symetra Tour’s Symetra Classic at River Run GC in Davidson, NC.
This weekend, 4 PKBGT Alumni and 1 current PKBGT member will tee it up on the Road to LPGA, the developmental pathway of the LPGA Tour.
Alumni in the field include Katherine Perry (’10), Lori Beth Adams (’10), Laura Wearn (’09) and Kayla Sciupider (’11). All 4 alumni competed in the early days of the PKBGT, combining for a total of 14 wins and three Bell Order of Merit titles.
Joining the legends of the PKBGT is current member Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021), who will be competing on a sponsor’s exemption this week. Sambach is currently the most decorated player in PKBGT history, holding the record for the most wins on the PKBGT, with a whopping 13 titles (5 Bell, 4 Prep and 4 Futures titles).
Of these five, three are Order of Merit Champions. Sciupider was the first ever Bell Order of Merit Winner in 2008, followed by Perry in 2009 and 2010, and Sambach winning the Bell Order of Merit in 2017. In addition, Sambach is the only player in PKBGT history to earn the trifecta of Order of Merit titles, winning the Futures Order of Merit in 2015, Prep Order of Merit in 2016, and her Bell Order of Merit title this past year.
In addition, 3 more PKBGT Alumni are competing this weekend at the LPGA Kingsmill Championship presented by Geico, all of whom are Symetra Tour graduates. Allison Emrey (’11) who has 5 PKBGT titles and 1 Order of Merit Title, will tee it up in her 3rd LPGA start this year alongside other former members Lauren Coughlin (’10) and Katelyn Dambaugh (’13), who has 2 PKBGT titles.
Both Perry and Emrey serve as PKBGT Ambassadors on tour and coached at this year’s inaugural Linville Cup Team Challenge and Leadership Retreat in January.
Good luck to all current and former members this weekend!
