2011 PKB Invitational @ Stoney Creek GC
Sat. & Sun. November 12 & 13, 2011
Stoney Creek, NC – The season finale of the 2011 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is right around the corner as the top players from the Carolina’s and Mid-Atlantic will descend upon Stoney Creek Golf Club to compete for the PKBGT Invitational title. Completing its 5th year of tournament competition exclusively for girls’, the PKBGT has grown to over 250 members from 11 states and features the top junior girls’ golfers in the region.
The PKBGT Invitational will feature players from North Carlina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio & Florida. Players qualified for the event through their final finish in the PKB Order of Merit, a season long rankings system for the tour. In addition, the field was rounded out with select juniors from the region.
The 2011 champion will have big shoes to fill as the 2010 tournament was a record-setting stage for champion Katie Kirk (Davidson, NC). Katie fired a five-under par 137 last year to claim a commanding 9 shot victory over 2011 Order of Merit winner Bryana Nguyen (Colombia, MD). The 137 total stands as the lowest 36-hole score in tour history. Katie, now a freshman at East Carolina University, is one of 66 PKBGT alumni who are currently competing and making a name for themselves in NCAA golf.
This year’s tournament will feature an array of highly ranked players looking to claim this prestigious title. Notable players include PKBGT RocketTour Kick-Off Champion Victoria Allred (Pfafftown, NC), currently the #1 ranked player in North Carolina, Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, VA), currently the #2 ranked player in Virginia, and Emily Brooks (Chapel Hill, NC), currently the #4 ranked player in North Carolina. Additional challengers looking to push for the title include PKBGT Masters Champion Kelsey Badmaev (Blythewood, SC), Alaina Yeatts (Durham, NC) and Tara Simmons (Goldsboro, NC).
