One-Day Open Series @ CC of Petersburg Event Preview

The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour tees off Saturday, June 9 at the One-Day Open Series @ CC of Petersburg. CC of Petersburg, site of the 2012 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship Sectional Qualifier, is a challenging course for this one-day event. The event features a field of 22 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features 16 golfers, highlighted by four of the top 25 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Lucia Polo (Greensboro, NC 2013) in 1st position, Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) in 14th position, Alaina Yeatts (Durham, NC 2014) in 23rd position, and Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) in 25th position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Alex Wright (Midlothian, VA 2016), Peyton Durham (Dinwiddie, VA 2015), and Christina Herbert (Williamsburg, VA 2014). Also, Amber Liu (Vienna, VA 2016) will be playing her first event as a Bell Division player at CC of Petersburg.

The Futures Division field features six golfers, highlighted by two of the top 20 players on the 2012 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) in 6th position and Maddi MacClurg (Cary, NC 2013) in 19th position. There are several new players to the tour this season, including: Carson Durham (Dinwiddie, VA 2018) and Erica Whitehouse (Mechanicsville, VA 2017).

The One-Day Open Series @ CC of Peterburg is the second one-day event of the season, bringing together the top players from Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. It should be an exciting & challenging event.
