2021 Winter & Early Spring National Schedule Release

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is excited to announce the release of our Winter/Spring National Schedule.  The 2020-2021 wraparound season kicked off a few weeks ago in the Peach State for the Atlanta Girls Classic.

Over the next ten months, the tour will host events in eight different states from Florida to Pennsylvania and many stops in between. With over 35 events in the National Series, players will have a chance to compete at some of the top courses on the east coast. Several of the courses have hosted professional events and national amateur events, with many serving as the home course to collegiate golf programs.

The PKBGT returns to many previous host-sites and welcomes many new courses to the tour schedule. We take an in-depth look at the 2020-2021 PKBGT Winter/Spring tour stops!|

An Ode to Peggy Kirk Bell

We begin the winter season honoring our tour matriarch, Peggy Kirk Bell, at her two world-class facilities in Pinehurst. This December, the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior will take place at Ms. Bell’s coveted Pine Needles Lodge and GC in Southern Pines, NC, where she was the co-owner and Director of Instruction for over 60 years.  Pine Needles has previously hosted two U.S. Women’s Opens and the U.S. Senior Women’s Open in 2019 and will host a third U.S. Women’s Open in 2022.   In addition to the PKB Junior, the best of our regional series meets for a weekend at Mid Pines for the fourth playing of the Linville Cup.

Additionally, the tour travels across to another Pinehurst facility the last weekend of January at a course to be announced.  The 2020 event was played at Forest Creek Golf Club, which is now the host of our National Tournament of Champions in December.

Collegiate Course Experience

The ultimate goal for many members of the PKBGT is to play collegiate golf. Several stops on the Winter/Early Spring schedule take place on the home course of Division 1 Collegiate Golf programs, including three of the Top 30 Best Campus Courses as ranked by Golfweek.  The University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, the Walker Course at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and UNC Finley Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina top the charts with ranks of 12th, 15th, and 25th respectively on Golfweek’s list.

On-campus stops continue at Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina and Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.  These events ensure that players experience the challenge of courses designed to stifle the top collegiate golfers in the country.

We are excited to announce the return of Birdwood Country Club at Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, VA back to the schedule for 2021.  After going through a 18-month multi-million dollar renovation, the home course to the University of Virginia women’s golf team will host this year Spring Invitational.  An elite, reduced Bell National field will take on the highly acclaimed renovated Birdwood, March 27-28, 2021.

The Mid-Atlantic Swing

Proceeding the Spring Invitational at Birdwood, the tour will return to Lake Monticello Golf Club in Palmyra, Virginia, the third weekend of March for this very popular event.  Early April will again feature the 4th Annual Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship and a return trip to Dupont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware in early May.  Dupont CC is the  former host of The McDonald’s LPGA Championship from 1994-2004. One of the 2020 schedule cuts due to COVID-19, Dupont will welcome the best of the tour to this former LPGA stop.
