Recap: Kentucky Series Finale, Storie Order of Merit Champions

Lexington, KY–The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded it’s Kentucky Regional Series in partnership with the Kentucky PGA Section at Kearney Hill Golf Links on Sunday. Kearney Hill, a premier Scottish links-style course characterized by deep sand and grass bunkers, sparse trees, and open, rolling terrain, welcomed the best of the bluegrass to the finale.

In the Prep Division, Ava Bunker (Franklin, IN 2026) won by a slim one shot in her first career start on the PKBGT circuit after a (+7) round of 79 defeating Emerson Purcell (New Albany, OH 2024) by one. Bunker made one birdie during the round.

In the Futures Division, Cailyn Rogers (Lexington, KY 2025) claimed the spoils of victory after her round of 82 (+10), which included a birdie on the par-four eleventh. Cailyn also took home medalist honors earlier this season at Nevel Meade Golf Club. Finishing runner up was Kasey Cameron (Richmond, KY 2024) at (+13).

In the Discovery Division, Carol Ann Mendenhall (Nicholasville, KY 2029) captured the title thanks to her (+4) round of 40. Mendenhall, the youngest player in the Discovery division, won by six strokes. Finishing second was Brooklyn Hillman (Berea, KY 2026).

Emerson Purcell (New Albany, OH 2024) finished first in the Prep Kentucky Order of Merit rankings after an outstanding season where she placed in all three of her events, including a win at University Club at Arlington, and second at Kearney Hills and Gibson Bay. Purcell’s scoring average over three rounds was 79.33, with a 6.93 scoring differential.

Kasey Cameron (Richmond, KY 2024) finished first in the Futures Kentucky Order of Merit with two wins in four events on the shortened circuit. Cameron won at Gibson Bay and University Club at Arlington and snagged runner-up finishes at UK Club and the Series Finale. Over the four rounds, Cameron’s scoring average was 81.75, with a scoring differential of 11.60.

Emerson Bowling (Frankfort, KY 2028) captured gold in three of her four events played on the PKB Kentucky Regional circuit. The Frankfort, KY native won at Nevel Meade Golf Club, University Club at Arlington, and UK Club, and finished the year out with a bronze finish at the Series Finale. Bowling’s low score of the year came back on August 23 and August 2 when she shot 42.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
