Inaugural Inspire. Dream. Achieve. Pro-Am

This past Friday, alumni, friends and family gathered for the inaugural PKBGT Inspire. Dream. Achieve. Pro-Am. at Bryan Park Golf Course for a day camaraderie, mentorship and reunion. Five PKBGT alumni as well as 3 former LPGA players attended the event and played with those supporting the Let’s Play Campaign: The PKBGT’s mission to create 1,000 girls-only golf tournaments. The weather may have been cold, but the spirit of the PKBGT’s past, present and future was anything but!

Contestants played a format called a “shamble”, in which a team of golfers selects the one best drive among them after teeing off, then all five play their own golf balls from that position into the hole. Low net and low gross scores were taken after each hole. The winning team, paired with PKBGT alumnus and 2016 Symetra Tour Gosling’s Dark and Stormy Champion Laura Wearn, fired a score of (-20) to take home first place. Team members included Jay Allred and Johnny Hall, both parents of PKBGT alumni and NC House Representative Jon Hardister.

Special Guests

Other pros and special guests in attendance included PKBGT alumni and ambassadors on tour Katherine Perry (LPGA), Allison Emrey (Symetra), Lori Beth Adams (Symetra), Kayla Sciupider (Symetra) as well as former LPGA Tour Members Maggie Will, Angela Jerman-Ormsby and Recruit PKB’s Brandi Jackson.

In addition, former PKBGT members Sarah Bertram and Katie Kirk (2010 PKBGT Invitational Champion) came out to support the PKB Girls Golf Tour and were joined by current PKBGT members Grace Holcomb and Ella Kue for a special opportunity to connect with all age groups of PKBGT past and present.

The Inspire. Dream. Achieve. Pro-Am kickstarted fundraising for the 2018 season and all proceeds will go towards creating 1,000 girls-only tournaments.
