The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour braved the cold and windy conditions to complete the Kick-Off Classic at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University. 57 players completed the two-day event, overcoming the firm greens and tough conditions. We would like to thank all the participants and their families for making this a great event and kicking the 2012 tour off with a bang!
In the Bell Division, Katelyn Dambaugh (2013, Goose Creek, SC) held off an early charge from Columbia, Maryland’s Bryana Nguyen (2013) to claim a 2-shot victory. Holding a 7 shot lead entering the final round, a string of bogeys and strong early play from Nguyen evened the tournament after 26 holes. Dambaugh responded with birdies on the 9th and 13th holes to regain her lead and claim her first PKBGT title since her 2009 title at Pine Needles. Katelyn finished with a 70-79-149, 5 over par and Nguyen two shots back, 77-74-151. Lucia Polo (2013, Greensboro, NC/Guatemala) and Kelsey Badmeav (2013, Blythewood, SC) claimed third and fourth with a 157 and 160 respectively.
The Futures Division title was claimed by Amy Wooten (2018, Clinton, NC) in wire to wire fashion. Amy, an 11 year old from North Carolina playing in her first official PKBGT event, claimed the event by a commanding 12 shots. Wooten steady play led her to a final total of 80-80-160. Juliana Sebastian (2014, Columbia, SC) and Jaelyn Tindal (2015, Rock Hill, SC) tied for 2nd with totals of 172. Megan Martin (2015, Chesapeake, VA) finished fourth at 173.
