Update: Freyvogel Leading Bell Open After Round 1

On Sunday, May 28, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the PKBGT BELL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at Country Club of Salisbury. Salisbury, home of the Catawba College women’s golf team, is a tricky Donald Ross layout for this 54-hole championship. The event features a field 45 players, the 2nd largest and 4th strongest field of the 2016 season.

After round one, Lauren Freyvogel (Gibsonia, PA 2019) is leading the field by two strokes at one over par with a score of 72. Not far behind Freyvogel is Riley Smyth (Cary, NC 2018) and Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) at two over par with a score of 73.

Round 2 tee times begin at 9:00 AM with the leaders teeing off at 11:50 AM.  Temperatures in the mid 70s are in the forecast for Sunday. Looks like a great day for the second round of the Open Championship!
