The PKBGT season is in full swing with our next tour stop on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. On March 4-5, the PKBGT tour will have a full field of 90 girls on the Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. One of the most popular events on the tour schedule, the Tar Heel Classic attracts one of the largest and strongest fields of the season. In 2015, Duke committee Gina Kim (2018, Chapel Hill, NC) claimed the title by 6 strokes with a record breaking 4-under par 2-day total of 140. Past champions also include Wake Forest committee Emilia Migliaccio (2017, Cary, NC) in 2013 & 2014 and current Ohio State junior Jessica Porvasnik, two of the top players in PKBGT history.
Leading the Bell Series is Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) with a blistering 37-32 round of 69. Migliaccio’s round was highlighted with an impressive double eagle two on the 450 yard par-five 17th hole. It is the first albatross in PKBGT history and the odds of making a double eagle are rarer than a hole-in-one at six million to one! Close behind Migliaccio by two strokes with a 71 is Gina Kim (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) and in third place with a 74 is Sarah Willis (Eaton, OH 2018).
Leading the Prep Series after round one is Ashley Nguyen (South Riding, VA 2017) with a 76. Close behind Nguyen in sole second place by two strokes is Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) with a 79. In a tie for third place is Riley Hamilton (Reidsville, NC 2020) and Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) at 81.
Leading the Futures Series is Nicole Adam (Pinehurst, NC 2020) with a 78. Close behind Adam in a four-way tie for second place by one shot is Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021), Hailey Pendleton (Waxhaw, NC 2020) Ana Tsiros (Asheville, NC 2019) and Audrey Nelson (Charlotte, NC 2019) with an 80.
Prizes will be awarded to the top-five players in each of the three series immediately following play tomorrow. We look forward to an exciting finish!
