The PKBGT season is in full swing with our next tour stop on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. On March 4-5, the PKBGT tour will have a full field of 90 girls on the Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. One of the most popular events on the tour schedule, the Tar Heel Classic attracts one of the largest and strongest fields of the season. In 2015, Duke committee Gina Kim (2018, Chapel Hill, NC) claimed the title by 6 strokes with a record breaking 4-under par 2-day total of 140. Past champions also include Wake Forest committee Emilia Migliaccio (2017, Cary, NC) in 2013 & 2014 and current Ohio State junior Jessica Porvasnik, two of the top players in PKBGT history.
The Bell Series field is one of the strongest in PKBGT history. The field is highlighted by 3 past PKBGT champions who are all ranked in the Top 100 nationally. They are former champions Gina Kim & Emilia Migliaccio in addition to future Tar Heel Brynn Walker (2016, St. Davids, PA). 5 of the 10 players on the PKBGT Performance Index are also in the field including Virginia Tech signees Jessica Spicer (2016, Bahama, NC) & Sarah Spicer (2016, Bahama, NC), Wofford signee Grace Massengill (2016, Hickory, NC), reigning Srixon Tour Championship winner Emily Hawkins (2018, Lexington, NC) and 3-time PKBGT event champion Caroline Curtis (2019, Richmond, VA).
The Prep Series features a full field of 30 girls and will be the 2nd event on 2016 Prep Series which culminates at the Srixon Tour Championship this August at Greenville Country Club. The field is led by current Prep Series Order of Merit leader Amanda Sambach (2021, Davidson, NC). Sambach is the reigning Prep Series Tournament of Champions winner and won 7 times in the last 12 months, including the 2015 Order of Merit champion for the Futures Series. Additional players to watch include current Top-5 Order of Merit players Anna Morgan (2019, Spartanburg, SC) and Alexis Sudjianto (2019, Charlotte, NC) in addition to numerous strong players from 7 states across the East Coast.
The Futures Series also features a full field of 30 players, including 5 of the Top 10 players on the Futures Series Order of Merit. Nicole Adam (2020, Pinehurst, NC) currently sits atop the field following her back to back wins in the first 2 Futures events of the year. The other top 10 players include Lotte Fox (2020, Raleigh, NC), Mara Hirtle (2020, Pinehurst, NC), Shalie Williams (2018, Shawboro, NC) and Channing Hensley (2018, Wake Forest, NC). The field also includes many PKBGT newcomers that look to make their name with a strong showing.
Play will begin on Saturday morning with an 8:30 AM double tee start. Follow the action at the Tar Heel Classic at the link below!
