On Saturday, November 2, the 2013 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the Last Chance Invitational Qualifier at Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club. Beacon Ridge proved a tricky course for the final Invitational Qualifier tournament. The event featured a field of 28 players. Participants fought valiantly for remaining coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) next weekend.
Kayla Ward (Raleigh, NC 2018) carded four over par with a score of 76 to place first. Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) and Savannah Thompson (West End, NC 2014) both carded eight over par with scores of 80 each to tie for second. Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) carded 10 over par with a score of 82 to place fourth. Joliana Elias (Jamestown, NC 2015) and Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) both carded 12 over par with scored of 84 each to tie for fifth.
With their top-five finishes, Ward, Massengill, Thompson, Bhatia, Elias, and Shoomee each receive an invitation to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). PKBGT returns to action next weekend on Saturday-Monday, November 9-11 with the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in Greensboro, NC. The PKBGT INVITATIONAL is the final event of 2013 and the first event of the 2014 points ranking season. The event brings together players from across the Carolinas, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.southeast. It should be a great tournament.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 330 members in 2012, 137 alumni in the collegiate ranks and 29 National Letter of Intent signees for fall 2013.
