The 2012 PKB Girls’ Golf Tour‘s third event teed off today with 71 players taking the course at the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole at NC State University. Lonnie Poole, an Arnold Palmer Signature Course, made its debut on the tour and lived up to its reputation as a stunning and challenging layout.
Lyberty Anderson (2014, Chesterfield, VA) jumped out to a 3 shot lead with a 3-under par 69. Buoyed by four birdies, Anderson’s 3-under par is the lowest round on tour this year. Fellow group mate Lucia Polo (2013, Greensboro, NC) carded an even par 72 including 6 birdies on the 5831 yard layout. The Maryland duo of Bryana Nguyen (2014, Columbia, MD) and Jordan McKelvin (2015, Westminster, MD) stand in third and fourth with a 75 & 77 respectively. In the Futures Division, tour newcomer Madalyn Davis (2012, Marion, NC) holds a one-shot lead over Emilia Migliaccio (2017, Cary, NC), shooting a 3-over par 75.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
