PKBGT

Lonnie PooleThe 2012 PKB Girls’ Golf Tour tees off this weekend with the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole at NC State University.  Lonnie Poole makes its debut on the tour, as this event moved from nearby Lochmere Golf Club.  An Arnold Palmer Signature Course, Lonnie Poole is a stunning and challenging layout that will be a great test for the girls. The event features another large field of 72 girls from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.

The Bell Division field features the year’s strongest field to date. Current Order of Merit leader Shannon Brooks (2015, Vienna, VA) leads a strong national field with top contenders from the eastern United States.  Four players in the Top 200 in the national rankings by Junior Golf Scoreboard lead the field:  118 – Lucia Polo (2013, Greensboro, NC), 126 – Bryana Nguyen (2014, Columbia, MD), 170 – Jessica Porvasnik (2013, Hinckley, OH), and 178 – Sarah Bae (2013, Raleigh, NC). This year’s tournament champion will automatically qualify for the year-end Tour Championship in September.

The Futures Division field sets another field size record with 36 girls from 6 states.  Current PKBGT Order of Merit leader and PKBGT Kick-Off Classic champion Amy Wooten (2018, Clinton, NC) and PKB Foundation Class champion Gina Kim (2018, Chapel Hill, NC) will again battle head to head. 2011 Order of Merit runner-up and defending champion Jennifer Chang (2018, Cary, NC), Grace Massengail (2016, Hickory, NC) and Emilia Migliaccio (2017, Cary, NC) and a host of newcomers to the division will all look to claim their first victory of the year.

Round 1 begins Saturday morning at 9 am with a shotgun start.  Following play, a special PKB Experience will be offered at the host hotel, Holiday Inn & Suites @ NC State from 5 – 6 pm.  Precision Golf School Director of Instruction Robert Linville, a 2-time National NCAA Coach of the Year, will be offering a seminar entitled “Preparing To Win: Your Tournament Day Preparation Essentials”.  This seminar is offered free for participants and families.  Spaces are limited so RSVP to mparker@pkbgt.org to reserve your spot.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
