Savannah Girls Classic Ends in Win for Spence and Trapani

Savannah, Ga. — The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour returned to The Club at Savannah Harbor for the Savannah Girls Classic. This event hosted 36 players across two divisions to kick-off the PKBGT in 2025.

The players powered through tough conditions on the Georgia coast this weekend to put up some pretty good scores. On day one, Ella Spence (Waxhaw, NC 2029) shot the round of the day with a 75 (+3) to sit atop the Bell National leaderboard. Competition was close behind her with four players shooting 78 (+6) to be tied for second place.

On day two, Myla Rookard (Atlanta, GA 2026) jumped up the leaderboard with a 72 (E) to secure third place for the weekend. Consistency was the key for Madison Woodrum (Statesboro, GA 2029) to grab second place with rounds of 78 (+6) & 74 (+2) on the weekend. Finishing tied for fourth was Arley Jennings (Spartanburg, SC 2030) & Leigh Allen (Cataula, GA 2025) with a 36-hole score of 155 (+11). In the end, a second round 74 (+2) for Ella Spence was good for her first Bell National win in her first Bell National event of her career!

The Futures National division had quite a bit of movement over the 36 holes, which made for an exciting event. On day one, Sophia Martin (Valdosta, GA 2026) shot 76 (+4) to take first place going into Sunday. Brooke Niclaus (Hilton Head, SC 2026) shot 78 (+6) and GibbieKay Cain (Ooltewah, TN 2028) shot 79 (+7) to round out the top 3 after day one.

Alexa Trapani (Marlboro, NY 2028) bettered her opening round by 10 strokes shooting a 71 (-1), leading her to secure the Futures National title!

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2023-2024 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
