Update: Cape Fear Girls Classic

Wilmington, NC The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour headed to Wilmington, NC  for the opening round of the Cape Fear Girls Classic at the Country Club of Landfall. 

 

*Round one play has been suspended due to darkness. The three remaining Futures National groups will finish their 1st rounds Sunday morning starting at 8:30 am.*

 

Bell National

It’s tight at the top of the Bell National leaderboard following Saturday’s opening round. Setting the pace today was Maria Isabella Errichetto (Southern Pines, NC 2027) and Kasey McIlvaine (Raleigh, NC 2023) who played their opening rounds in even par. Both players made two birdies and two bogeys during their round to share the lead. Zoey Cho (Suwanee, GA 2025) and Ella June Hannant (Pikeville, NC 2026) are right on their heels after their Saturday rounds of 73 (+1). They made two and three birdies, respectively,  during their rounds. There are nine players within five strokes of the lead setting the stage for an exciting final round on Sunday!

Futures National

Play was suspended due to darkness on Saturday which left three Futures National groups with a few holes to finish on Sunday morning. In these groups is current Futures leader Ella Reed (Winston-Salem, NC 2024). Reed played her first 16 holes in five over par. She’s made two birdies so far in opening round including on her first hole of the day. Currently Emerson Devers (Murrells Inlet, SC 2025) is in second place alone after making a birdie to close her round on Saturday. Time will tell to see if Devers stays in second or holds a share of the lead to begin Round 2. Positioning themselves for a Sunday charge were Catherine DeSiena (Oak Ridge, NC 2024) and Ryland Portadin (Colts Neck, NJ 2029). Both players are tied for third after opening 79’s (+7).

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls.
