Recap: Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship

Urbana, MD  The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour headed to Worthington Manor Golf CLub for the final round of the Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship.

Bell National

The weather delay on Saturday afternoon, opened the door for some beautiful weather to complete the Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship. The soft course paved the way for some great play on Sunday and we saw the two low rounds of the tournament. Abigail Avallone (Bethesda, MD 2026) and Madolyn Kost (Kent, OH 2024) played their final rounds four under par to card 68’s and vault them up the leaderboard. Avallone made five birdies during her opening round and continued that great play by making four more birdies and an eagle in her final round. Three birdies in a row starting on the fourteenth helped her to take the lead which she would wind up keeping. Kost bogeyed her opening hole and would play mistake free from there adding five birdies in her final 17 holes to move into solo third. Macie Rasmussen’s (Chesapeake, VA 2027) stellar first round gave her the overnight lead. Rasmussen played solid all day but couldn’t match Avallone’s charge and she would ultimately finish in second. Renna Chang (Jericho, NY 2025) and Zoe Cusack (Potomac, MD 2026) would tie for fourth with two day scores of 3-over.

1.  Abigail Avallone (Bethesda, MD 2026)  / 73 + 68 = 141 (-3)

2. Macie Rasmussen (Chesapeake, VA 2027) / 69 + 73 = 142 (-2)

3. Madolyn Kost (Kent, OH 2024) / 76 + 68 = 144 (E)

T4. Renna Chang (Jericho, NY 2025) / 75 + 72 = 147 (+3)

T4. Zoe Cusack (Potomac, MD 2026) / 73 + 74 = 147 (+3)

Futures National

Due to weather and darkness in the opening round on Saturday, the Futures National division was shortened to nine holes for its opening round and the players would play 18 on Sunday to decide the championship! The beautiful weather helped players to play well and make a Sunday move. Annabel Widdifield (McLean, VA 2026) made a charge firing a round of 76 (+5) and took control of the title by making two birdies on her opening nine. Widdifield would go onto maintain her lead to claim the championship. There were plenty of competitors right on her tails however with six players finishing within three of the lead. The closest were Aspen Bikowski (White Plains, MD 2027), Sydney Dinh (Fairfax, VA 2028), and Savannah Laverty (Moorestown, NJ 2027) who finished just one shot behind Widdifield. Bryn Krosse (York, PA 2030) and Erin Mullin (Clifton, VA 2026) would finish two behind and tied for fifth.
