Inside the Field: 2022 Spring Bell Invitational

Making its return to the schedule at the newly renovated Birdwood Golf Course at Boar’s Head Resort, the 2022 Spring Bell Invitational is shaping up to be the best field from top to bottom the tour has ever seen.

The Spring Bell Invitational, contested this year on March 26-27, features one of the highest-ranked fields ever, with 88% of the field ranking inside the top 1,200 on Junior Golf Scoreboard. Even more notable, eighteen of the field currently ranks inside the top 550.

With players from twelve states – let’s take a look inside this year’s field of 54!

Highest Ranked Players

Going for her second win this spring, the 2022 Katherine Perry Hamski Tradition Champion, Macy Pate (Winston-Salem, NC 2024) sits at 44 on JGS and second on the PKBGT Performance Index. Just behind Pate is Ellen Yu (Greensboro, NC 2026) at 81 and #4 on PKBGT Performance Index. After finishing as runner-up at the 2021 PKBGT Tournament of Champions, Yu is hunting for her first win of the 2021-2022 PKBGT Season.

Youngsters in the Field

They say age is just a number, which proves to be true for Ashnoor Kaur (Roanoke, VA 2027) and Ella June Hannant (Pikeville, NC 2027) who both enter the field at just 12 years old. This will be both Kaur and Hannant’s first time in the field.

In addition to Kaur and Hannant, the field features three from 2026, seventeen from 2025, thirteen from the class of 2024, twelve from 2023, and seven from the graduating class of 2022.
