Recap: Middle Atlantic Series at Bowling Green Country Club (South)

Greensboro, NCOn Saturday, June 25, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played a round in the Middle Atlantic Series at Bowling Green Country Club on the South course in Front Royal, VA.

Saturday’s cloudy and humid atmosphere was the perfect setting for the players to get in a challenging round of golf! Tee times for the Middle Atlantic Series at Bowling Green were set to commence at 1:00 P.M. off of Hole #1 of the South course on June 25. Players arrived at the practice facilities eager to get the round started and potentially take home the winning hardware.

At the end of the day, three girls stood atop the leaderboards, each the champion of their division in the PKBGT Middle Atlantic Series at Bowling Green Country Club (South).

Prep Series

Olivia Vigliante (Leesburg, VA 2023) scored a birdie on her way to first. Vigliante took home the championship trophy with a score of 80 (+9). 

Scoring par on hole 18, Caroline Zhou (Rockville, VA 2025) won a scorecard play-off with a score of 82 (+11). With a birdie on hole 16, Jennifer Osborne (Ashburn, VA 2024) clutched third after the scorecard play-off 82 (+11). Having scored a birdie on hole 8, Grace Saunders (Springfield, VA 2024) ended the day by taking home fourth with a score of 86 (+15).

Futures Series

With four birdies throughout the round, Aspen Bikowski (White Plains, MD 2027) took home the champion hardware with a score of 73 (+2). This win has started a reign of Bikowski holding first!

Having scored two birdies, Katherine Yun (Ashburn, VA 2028) finished as runner-up with a score of 76 (+5). With a birdie on hole 6, Danielle Kelly (Glen Allen, VA 2024) claimed the third place medal with a score of 82 (+11). Caitlin Brown (Mechanicsville, VA 2028) finished the day in fourth with a score of 83 (+12).

Discovery Series

After two play-off rounds, Sy Shafie (Laytonsville, MD 2028) took home the champion hardware with a score of 38 (+3). This has begun another dynasty as this is Shafie’s second win in a row!

With two birdies, Madeline Navaleza (Winston-Salem, MD 2030) came in second with a score of 38 (+3). Holly Hinton (Potomac, MD 2029) ended the day with a score of 41 (+6). With two birdies as well, Madelyn Pool came in fourth with a score of 43 (+8).

Closing Remarks

We would like to extend our greatest thanks to the host of the event, the staff at Bowling Green Country Club, for their incredible hospitality throughout the tournament. Competing through the cool temperatures and high humidity, the tournament provided a challenge for all of our competitors. About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
