Charlottesville, VA – The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour traveled to Birdwood Golf Course at the Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, VA for the PKBGT Spring Invitational.

LEADERBOARD UPDATE

Ella Weber (Burlington, Canada 2023) started the day tied for the lead and picked up where she left off on Saturday. Weber matched her five birdies from the first round and made five in her opening 14 holes. She would settle for a round of even par which would be good enough to give her the 36 hole lead. Arabella Lopez (Ridgefield, CT 2027) has been playing very steady golf the first two days. Over her 36 holes she has made four birdies, three bogeys, and twenty-nine pars. Lopez has not been over par at any point this weekend and moved into solo second place after Sunday’s round.

Kathryn Ha (Roanoke, VA 2025), Anne-Lea Lavoie (Quebec City, Canada 2023), and Sarah Lydic (Ocean View, DE 2024) are all tied for third at even par for the championship. Ha entered Sunday tied for the lead and made four birdies during her round but made four bogeys on the back nine to move her slightly down the leaderboard. Lavoie fired her second consecutive round of even par. She has made six birdies over the first two rounds and has positioned herself nicely heading into the final round. Lydic made a move on moving day by making five birdies and shooting 70 (-2). She moved up six spots on the leaderboard and moved herself into contention.

Warm weather, sunshine, and a small breeze provided great scoring conditions which the field took advantage of. Six players shot in red figures including Maria Isabella Errichetto (Southern Pines, NC  2027) who shot the low round of the tournament: 67 (-5). In all, players made 124 birdies and one eagle on Sunday helping to set up what will be another exciting close to the PKBGT Spring Invitational!

1. Ella Weber (Burlington, Canada 2023) / 70 + 72 = 142(-2)

2. Arabella Lopez (Ridgefield, CT 2027) / 72 + 71 = 143 (=1)

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina, the tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2022 season will feature over 138 tournaments in 12+ states and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
