Update: Spring Prep Preview Invitational

Murrels Inlet, SC- The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour continues the Spring Championship schedule at Spring Prep Preview Invitational at Wachesaw Plantation in Murrels Inlet, SC. The champion of the Prep Preview Order of Merit will be decided Sunday from the field that represents five states and Canada.

Prep Preview

The strongest player in the division over the past five weeks is looking for the hat trick at the Spring Prep Invitational. Anne-Lea Lavoie (Quebec, Canada 2023), champion of the Campbell Classic and the Eastern NC Girls Classic, holds a three-shot lead after an opening-round 71 (-5) that included a clutch par save on the tricky par-five eighteenth. Lavoie carded two birdies on her outward nine making the turn at (+1) a shot behind the early leader. Anne-Lea took sole possession of the lead after a birdie on the tenth, coming home in 34 (-2). Lavoie is the key at the moment to keep Emerson Dever (Durham, NC 2025) at the #1 spot in the Prep Preview Order of Merit rankings. If the likes of Garland Gould (Raleigh, NC 2024) or Justine Pennycooke (Cary, NC 2023) can catch Lavoie and capture the title, they have a shot at the Order of Merit title as well. Based on today’s results, we expect nothing but a dogfight coming in along the Intercoastal Waterway!

1. Anne-Lea Lavoie (Quebec, Canada 2023) / 71 (-1)

T2. Garland Gould (Raleigh, NC 2024) / 74 (+2)

T2. Reagan Propes (Daniel Island, SC 2022) / 74 (+2)

T4. Yedam Lee (Lawrenceville, GA 2021) / 75 (+3)

T4. Justine Pennycooke (Cary, NC 2023) / 75 (+3)

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2020-2021 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
