Another first start and first victory occurred this season at the Sea Island Resort Girls Classic on the Retreat Golf Course. Kate Barber (Savannah, GA 2025) began the final day with a one-shot lead over fellow Georgia native Mia Sessa (Augusta, GA 2022). The Savannah, GA, felt the pressure on the par-three seventh hole; when her ball finally dropped into the cup, a triple bogey had to be written on her scorecard. Sessa stayed within reach after nine. After the twelfth hole, it was smooth sailing for Barber, who played the final seven holes at two under par. Barber tapped in on the eighteenth to capture her first-ever PKB Girls Tour title and a three-shot victory. Taking home bronze was Sawyer Brockstedt (Rehoboth Beach, DE 2025).

1. Kate Barber (Savannah, GA 2025) / 73 / 74 = 147 (+3)

2. Mia Sessa (Augusta, GA 2022) / 74 / 76 = 150 (+6)

3. Sawyer Brockstedt (Rehoboth Beach, DE 2025) / 76 / 76 = 152 (+8)

4. Ellison Lundquist (Furlong, PA 2025) / 80 / 75 = 155 (+11)

Chloe Scofield (Charlotte, NC 2026) finished just once inside the top five during 2020 in her ten events. Chloe opened up the Sea Island Resort Girls Classic with a round of 82 (+10). She shared the overnight lead with Grace Lindsey (Mount Pleasant, SC 2025). Scofield doubled her opening hole and overtook the solo lead from Linsdey on the third hole. She never looked back after the fifth, shooting the tournament’s low round at 81 (+9). Lindsey and Maria Barr (St. Simons Island, GA 2022) finished tied for second, with Barr winning the scorecard playoff.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour heads back to Pinehurst next weekend for the PKB Foundation Classic at Mid-South Club.

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The Tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the Tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace. The 2020 season will feature over 110 tournaments in 9 states on the East Coast, and with over 1,000 members, the PKBGT is the largest girl’s only Tour in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at http://www.pkbgt.org/.
