PKBGT Fall 2020 Invitational Primer

A few weeks back, the PKBGT announced its 2020-21 Fall/Winter schedule.  The exciting part of the weather starting to turn is the arrival of the Invitational season on the PKBGT.  These events bring together the top fields the PKBGT has to offer and memorable experiences for players and families alike.  Players can earn their spots in the different events based on their play on the PKBGT, either thru winning an event, a top finish on an Order of Merit list, or high standing on the PKBGT Performance Index.  Read below about each Invitational and how you can qualify to participate.

Where’s My Invite?

Several PKBGT Invitational events return in the 2021 season, headlined by the 2020 PKBGT Invitational (Nov. 7-9). Bermuda Run Country Club plays host to the tour’s premier event for the third consecutive year. Bermuda Run is fresh off of hosting the best of the Carolina’s for the 94th Carolina’s Women’s Amateur won by PKBGT alumnus Anna Morgan.  This event features the premier field of the year for the PKBGT, with past champions of the event including professional golfers Katherine Perry, Lucia Polo, and Anna Redding and amateur stand-outs Emilia Migliaccio, Rachel Kuehn and Anna Morgan.  Defending champion Amanda Sambach is a two-time champion, winning in both 2017 & 2019.  Learn how to qualify for the PKBGT Invitational.

Additionally, the top finishers from across the seven PKBGT Regional Series will be invited to compete at the 2020 PKBGT Regional Invitational (Oct. 31 – Nov. 1) at Ford’s Colony Country Club. Ford’s Colony Country Club, located in Williamsburg, VA, will bring the best of the eight regions to converge on the Marsh Hawk Golf Course. Opened in 1985, the Marsh Hawk course,  known its tree-lined fairways and small undulating putting surfaces, has hosted numerous state championship qualifiers as well as a PGA Tour Monday Qualifier for the Michelob Championship for twelve straight years.  In the inaugural event, Cindy Song claimed a commanding six-shot victory in the Prep Preview division, and Madison Messimer kicked off her 2019-20 Futures National campaign with a victory.    Players who finish in the Top 3 of Top 10% of their Storie Apparel Regional Order of Merit list in the Prep or Futures divisions will automatically qualify for this event. We Are The Champions!

Gathering all of the PKBGT’s champions of the year past, the 2020 PKBGT Tournament of Champions will be split into two events this year to accommodate the ever-growing tour.  National & Regional level champions and elite performers will come together at two great venues to compete for the Tournament of Champions title and a kick-start to the 2021 season.

The PKBGT National Tournament of Champions (Dec. 5-6) serves as an invite-only event for players in the Bell National, Prep Preview, and Futures National division champions. Although the event remains within the greater Pinehurst area, PKBGT is excited to announce a partnership with Forest Creek Golf Club as the new host of the Tournament of Champions. Forest Creek hosted the PKB Foundation Classic on their South Course in early February of 2020, as is ranked as one of the top courses in North Carolina.  Players who qualify will compete in either the Bell National or Prep Preview divisions. Players who qualify will compete in either the Prep Preview or Futures National divisions. Learn how to qualify for the PKBGT Regional Tournament of Champions.

As part of the PKBGT Regional Tournament of Champions, the PKBGT will also host the return of the 2020 PKBGT Discovery Invitational. This event will also be hosted at Palmetto Dunes Golf Resort and will welcome the best of our rising stars to the island for another showdown at the beach!  All Discovery event champions throughout the 2020 regional season will qualify to participate.  Learn how to qualify for the PKBGT Discovery Invitational.

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour and LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focuses on developing tournament experiences at the players pace. In 2020, the PKBGT will feature over 1,000 members and operate over 110 tournaments in 10 states across the East Coast.  PKBGT championship events rank as some of the top 100 ranked girls’ events in the country.  Learn more about the PKBGT at pkbgt.org.
