Preview: Rocket Tour Players Championship at UGA

Greensboro, NC-On Saturday-Sunday February 15-16, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour will travel to the Peach State for the Rocket Tour Players Championship at the University of Georgia’s Golf Course. The UGA Golf Course, voted consistently every year as one of the best college golf courses in the country by Golf Advisor was also ranked as the #6 best course in the state of Georgia. The UGA Golf Course is also host to the annual Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic, a unique women’s college golf event hosted by the University of Georgia with twelve teams competing in match play.

Bell National

In the Bell National division, 43 players will compete on the 6000 yards set up to earn a spot into the 2020 PKBGT Tournament of Champions. Also, the event will serve as a way to receive crucial Order of Merit spots and Performance Index recognition heading into the 2020 season filled with PKBGT Priority Based Entry fields.

Top-ranked players in the field include:

  • Maria Atwood — Holly Springs, NC — Class of 2022 — #8 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Sydney Yermish— Wynnewood, PA — Class of 2023 — #10 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Paris Fieldings — Suffolk, VA — Class of 2023— #12 on the PKBGT Performance Index

Prep Preview

In the Prep Preview division, 15 players are vying on the 5,701 yards set up to earn a spot into the 2020 PKBGT Tournament of Champions. Also, the event will serve as a way to receive crucial Order of Merit spots and Performance Index recognition heading towards the Spring Prep Preview Invitational in April.

Top-ranked players in the field include:

  • Grace Ridenhour — Cary, NC — Class of 2025 — #75 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Hailey Han— Duluth, GA— Class of 2025 — #133 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Genevieve Wu— Johns Creek, GA — Class of 2022 — #163 on the PKBGT Performance Index

Futures National

In the Futures National division, 17 players will compete on the 5,200 yards set up to earn a spot into the 2020 PKBGT Tournament of Champions and earn crucial Order of Merit points as the season progresses.

Top-ranked players in the field include:

  • Gracie Song— Waxhaw, NC — Class of 2026— #145 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Emerson Dever — Durham, NC — Class of 2025 — #177 on the PKBGT Performance Index
  • Abigail Fernandez — Windermere, FL — Class of 2023 — #195 on the PKBGT Performance Index

About the PKBGT

Founded in 2007 by Girls Golf of America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, as a local girls’ golf tour in the Triad region of North Carolina.  The tour began as a simple concept: create more effective competitive playing opportunities for girls. By utilizing innovative yardage-based divisions instead of the traditional age-based format, the tour focused on developing tournament experience at the player’s pace.
