2018 Primer: PKBGT Priority Based Entry

One of the questions we get most often this time of year is why did I get waitlisted for an event that just opened?  The answer is the PKBGT Priority Based Entry system which we use for many of our National events, including a majority of the Bell National Series.

Here is a quick primer for how the system works for each division of play during the Winter/Spring and a brief explanation of why it benefits you that the system exists.

WHAT IS THE PKBGT PRIORITY BASED ENTRY SYSTEM?

The system exists to create a registration method for Championship & elite national Classic events that guarantees the strongest fields for these events. For each event that uses the Priority system, a players ranking on the PKBGT Performance Index, National Junior Golf Scoreboard and other ranking factors will be considered. Below we outline the different entrance policies we use for each Series.

WHY DO WE USE IT?

The PKBGT offers competitions at many steps on the developmental process, and for players at the top end of this progression, ranking development is a crucial component to their progress. By creating the highest strength of field, we ensure that our players are being recognized on the national stage for their accomplishments. In addition, the Priority Based Entry system guarantees players who have earned a higher ranking are rewarded with access to the top tournaments the PKBGT has to offer.

Additionally, being that the PKBGT does not use age as the divider to recognize accomplishment at a particular event, the Priority Based Entry system allows for more direct competition with your like peers, with each level being recognized as champions and accomplishment on the various national Order of Merit points standings, including the Bell National, Prep Preview and Futures National Series.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For the Bell National Series events utilizing PKBGT Priority Based Entry, the following entrance policies will be utilized:

Any player inside the Top 30 on the PKBGT Performance Index at the time of registration is automatically guaranteed a spot in the Bell division field.  All other players will be waitlisted for the Bell division field.  When the event also features a Prep Preview field, all players registering are guaranteed a spot in the field unless the maximum total number of participants is reached.

After the commitment deadline, the Bell division field will be completed based on the top waitlisted players by ranking factors (PKBGT Performance Index, Junior Golf Scoreboard and other rankings).  All remaining players will be moved to the Prep Preview field for consideration for this field (see below).

A priority based waiting list will be kept for the Bell National field should a spot become available in the Bell division, including players who were accepted into the Prep Preview field.  If the field does not reach capacity by the commitment deadline, the field will revert to first come, first serve until the field is full or the registration deadline is reached.

For the Prep Preview events utilizing PKBGT Priority Based Entry, the following entrance policies will be utilized:

All players will be waitlisted for the Prep Preview field.  After the commitment deadline has passed and the Bell division field has been select, the Prep Preview field will be completed based on the top waitlisted players by ranking factors (PKBGT Performance Index, Junior Golf Scoreboard and other rankings).

If a Futures National field is part of the event, all players who are eligible for this division who do not gain access to the Prep Preview field will be moved to the Futures National field for consideration for this field (see below).

A priority based waiting list will be kept for the Prep Preview field should a spot become available in the Prep Preview division, including players who were accepted into the Futures National field.  If the field does not reach capacity by the commitment deadline, the field will revert to first come, first serve until the field is full or the registration deadline is reached.

For the Futures National Series events utilizing PKBGT Priority Based Entry, the following entrance policies will be utilized:

All players will be waitlisted for the Futures National field.  After the commitment deadline has passed and if applicable, the Prep Preview field has been select, the Futures National field will be completed based on the top waitlisted players by ranking factors (PKBGT Performance Index, Junior Golf Scoreboard and other rankings).

A priority based waiting list will be kept for the Futures National division should a spot become available.  If the field does not reach capacity by the commitment deadline, the field will revert to first come, first serve until the field is full or the registration deadline is reached.
