The 2012 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour kicks off this coming weekend with the Kick-Off Classic at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University. The Kick-Off Classic moves to Myrtle Beach and a new course in 2012 having previously been played in Charleston the last two years. The event begins the sixth season of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members and 94 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
The Bell Division field is highlighted by defending champ Bryana Nguyen (2013, Columbia, MD), who seeks her 5th career PKB Tour title after winning 4 times in 2011 on her way to claiming the Tour Order of Merit championship. In addition, 2011 PKBGT Invitational champion Lucia Polo (2013, Greensboro, NC/Guatemala) and 2011 PKBGT Masters champion Kelsey Badmeav (2013, Blythewood, SC) seek their first wins of 2012. Other top ranked players in the field include the return of Katelyn Dambaugh (2013, Goose Creek, SC), a verbal commit to the University of South Carolina, and 2011 Order of Merit top-10 finisher Madison Moosa (2017, Charlotte, NC). The tournament champion will automatically qualify for the year-end Tour Championship in September.
The Futures Division field is one of the largest in tour history, including 27 players from 4 states. Players to watch include Savannah Gowarty (2015, Raleigh, NC), Jaelyn Tindal (2015, Rock Hill, SC) and Amy Wooten (2018, Clinton, NC). The top players in the Futures Division at the end of the season will qualify for the Tour Championship and PKBGT Invitational.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
