Update: Palmetto Dunes Resort Classic @ Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort

The warmth rolled in as the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour settled in to Hilton Head Island for the Palmetto Dunes Resort Classic. On November 17, players competed in the first round at the scenic Arthur Hills Course on the Palmetto Dunes Golf Club in the second event of the 2019 campaign.

The event features a field of 26 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. The girls compete on the course at 5,800 yards in the Bell National Division and 5,227 yards in the Futures National Division.

Bell National Division

After the first round, Melanie Walker (Burke, VA 2022) is leading the eight player Bell National Division after firing a 74 (+2). Walker handled the first nine with ease, firing a two-under 34 to jump out to an early lead. Maddie Frank (Hilton Head Island, SC 2020) sits in second place at +9 after shooting an 81 in her first round of play. Rounding out the top 3 after one day of play is Abigayle Hatcher (Roebuck, SC 2019) who shot an 83 (+11). Hatcher capped her round with a birdie on hole 18 and looks to ride that momentum into the second round.

Futures National Division

The 17 player Futures National division field saw Grace Ridenour (Cary, NC 2025) jump out to an early lead after a first round of 79 (+7). Ridenour sunk two birdies on the day. In second place with a score of 85 (+13) was Izzy Stone (Beaufort, SC 2020). In a tie for third place is Lauren Oh (Lexington, SC 2020) and Kinsley Smith (Raleigh, NC 2024) who both shot 86 (+14) in the first round of play.

Everyone looks to continue their success tomorrow in the second round of the Palmetto Dunes Resort Classic at the Arthur Hills Course! Tee times begin at 8:oo a.m.
