Recap: Rocket Tour Players Championship at University of Georgia GC

The PKBGT returned to action on February 17-18, 2018 with the Rocket Tour Players Championship at UGA in Athens, GA. The event featured 65 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the largest “girls-only” junior golf tour in the country. They tackled the course at 5,997 yards in the Bell National and Prep Preview divisions and at 5,186 yards in the Futures National division.Pine Needles Lodge & GC

The champion of the Bell National Series was University of South Carolina signee Skylar Thompson (2018, Buford, GA) with a two-day total of even par 144.  Sara Im, a 7th grader from Duluth, Georgia finished three shots back in 2nd place.  Duke committee Megan Furtney (2019, South Elgin, IL) was 4 shots back at 148.

In the Prep Preview division, Iris Cao (2022, Duluth GA) claimed a one-shot victory over last weeks Prep Preview champion at the Orange Whip Classic, Chloe Holder (2021, Williamston, SC).  Cao fired rounds of 77 and 80 for a winning total of 157.  Kate Song (2021, Johns Creek, GA) claimed solo third with a total of 162.

The Futures National division saw PKBGT newcomer Hailey Han (2025, Duluth, GA) claim the title by 4 shots with scores of 78 & 80.  Han completed the Georgia sweep with Georgia natives claiming all three titles!  Averi Cline (2022, Suwanee, GA) finished in 2nd place at 162.  Isabella Adkins (2021, Bristol, TN) and Morgan Ellison (2021, Peachtree City, GA) finished 5 back at 163.

The PKBGT returns to action March 2-3  with the fifth Junior Challenge pre-qualifier, the Palmetto Classic @ University of South Carolina at Cobblestone Park Golf Club.  This was a pre-qualifier for the LPGA Symetra Tour Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge. All players will earn points towards qualification to the Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge Qualifier, with the ultimate winner of this event qualifying for the LPGA Symetra Tour’s Self Regional Women’s Health Classic in March 2018 at the Links at Stoney Point in Greenwood, South Carolina.  Learn more about the LPGA Symetra Tour Women’s Health Classic Junior Challenge.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
