Preview: Middle Atlantic Series Finale at Fawn Lake CC

On Saturday-Sunday, September 29-30, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour in partnership with the Middle Atlantic PGA plays the Middle Atlantic Series Finale event at Fawn Lake CC in Spotsylvania, VA.

The MA One-Day Series included 8 One-Day tournaments in the Middle Atlantic region, concluding this weekend with a two-day Series Finale. These events offer innovative yardage-based divisions to girls aged 9-17. The PKBGT Series Progression allows players to progress towards playing collegiate golf by playing yardage/skill appropriate tournaments as they develop their game.

One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The Middle Atlantic Series Finale at Fawn Lake CC  features a field of 51 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour.

Due to the recent weather postponing several events, the Middle Atlantic Series Finale will not be the finale MA event of the season. The series will actually conclude in the coming weeks following the completion of the postponed events. At that time we will crown our Order of Merit champions and officially end the 2018 Middle Atlantic Series. As for this weekends competition, there is a talented pool of golfers slated to participate and we preview each division below!

Prep Series

Featured in the 24 player Prep Series are Tatum Walsh (Midlothian, VA 2021), Vynie Chen (Centreville, VA 2020) and Katie Park (Fairfax, VA 2022). Tatum is currently ranked 1st on the Prep MA Order of Merit and won three events with the PKB this year. She shot her season best score of 72 (E) in her win at the MA One-Day Series at Shenandoah Valley GC. Vynie is currently ranked 2nd on the Prep MA Order of Merit and has four top-5 finishes on the tour including a win at the MA One-Day Series at Bowling Green CC (South). Katie is currently ranked 3rd on the Prep MA Order of Merit and won the MA One-Day Series at Crofton CC.

Futures Series

Featured in the 12 player Futures Series are Josephine Nguyen (Springfield, VA 2024), Taylor Park (Fairfax, VA 2022) and Kinley Stokes (Poolesville, MD 2024). Josephine moved into 1st on the Futures MA Order of Merit after a 2nd place finish at the MA One-Day Series at Hobbit’s Glen GC. Taylor moved down to 2nd on the Futures MA Order of Merit and finished in the top-5 of each Futures One-Day Series event she competed in. Kinley is currently ranked 4th on the Futures MA Order of Merit and had top-5 finishes in each of her last three events. She also picked up a win earlier in the season at the MA One-Day Series at Shenandoah Valley GC.

Discovery Series

Featured in the 15 player Discovery Series are Madison Lehr (Mechanicsville, VA 2024), Sydney Neou (Leesburg, VA 2027) and Cailyn Park (Fairfax, VA 2025). Madison moved up one spot to take over 1st on the Discovery MA Order of Merit and won twice this year with the PKB. Sydney also moved up one spot into 2nd place on the Discovery MA Order of Merit having also won twice this year on the PKB. Cailyn dropped down three spots into 4th on the Discovery MA Order of Merit but looks to finish the year strong having finished top-5 all but one of the events she played in this season.

Everyone looks to continue their success this weekend at the Middle Atlantic Series Finale event at Fawn Lake CC! Awards will be presented to the top-5 finishers in the Prep and Futures Series, and the top-3 finishers in the Discovery Series. We look forward to a great event!
