Preview: Maryland Classic at Laytonsville GC

On June 2-3, 2018 the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Maryland Classic at Laytonsville GC in Laytonsville, Maryland. The event features a field of 45 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour. They will tackle the course at 5,814 yards in the Bell National Division and 5,232 yards in the Futures National Division.

Featured in the 20 player Bell Division are Elizabeth Coffren (Owings, MD 2020), Hannah Hankim (Potomac, MD 2021) and Johnna Parlett (Dunkirk, MD 2019). Elizabeth is currently ranked 26th on the Bell National Order of Merit and finished in 6th place at the Mid-Atlantic Championship at Hillendale CC. Hannah is currently ranked 69th on the Bell National Order of Merit. She finished T3 at the Pennsylvania Classic at Heritage Hills Resort. Johnna is currently ranked 88th on the Bell National Order of Merit and she finished T3 at the PKB Foundation Classic at the CC of North Carolina.

Featured in the 28 player Futures Division are Amber Mackiewicz (Virginia Beach, VA 2023), Faith Mcilvain (Elliott City, MD 2020), Elizabeth Tucci (New Market, MD 2022) and Melanie Walker (Burke, VA 2022). Amber is currently ranked 1st on the Futures National Order of Merit and has finished top-9 in all five PKB events she has played in for the 2018 season. Faith is currently ranked 40th on the Futures National Order of Merit and finished runner-up at the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship at Hillendale CC and T3 at the Pennsylvania Classic at Heritage Hills Resort. Elizabeth is currently ranked 31st on the Futures National Order of Merit and T6 at the Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship at Hillendale CC. Melanie is currently ranked 18th on the Futures National Order of Merit and has finished top-6 in three PKB events this season: the Boar’s Head Inn Classic, the Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship and the Pennsylvania Classic at Heritage Hills Resort.

The Maryland Classic at Laytonsville GC brings together players from Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. We look forward to a great tournament!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
