After day 1 of the 2017 PKBGT Invitational, Kendall Turner (Chesapeake, VA 2019) leads the pack with a score of 1 over par, 73. Darkness suspended play with one group still on the course.
Kendall had 2 birdies on the day to take the lead by 1 shot over a tightly packed leaderboard. Katherine Schuster (Kill Devil Hills, NC 2021) is just one stroke behind the leader, finishing round 1 at 2-over par, 74. Kate Owens (Suwanee, GA 2018) is currently sitting in third place after her round of 3-over par, 75 today. There is currently a three-way tie for fourth place. Kimberly Shen (Johns Creek, GA 2022), Ana Tsiros (Asheville, NC 2019), and Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) all finished the day at 4-over par, 76. There are also currently seven players tied for 7th place after round 1 of play.
Round 2 will be a shotgun start beginning at 11 AM, weather permitting. Following play on Sunday, the field will be reduced to the low 36 scores and ties. It should be an exciting MOVING DAY at the PKBGT Invitational!
The culmination of a year’s worth of tournaments has brought us to the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour’s most prestigious event of the year, the 2017 PKBGT Invitational at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC. The Grandover Resort East course will be played at 6,200 yards and is expected to serve as a challenging test for PKBGT girls.
The field for this year’s event features 72 players from 14 different states making it one of the most diverse and top ranked fields in PKBGT history. Players have earned their spot to the Invitational by finishing at the top of the PKBGT Orders of Merit, winning their state championship, playing in Invitational qualifiers, or earning an at-large bid.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
