Recap: Branum & Rich Wins First South Carolina One-Day Series Event

On June 11, 2016, the PKBGT concluded the first  South Carolina One-Day Series Event at Columbia Country Club, Columbia CC is ranked among the top 50 courses in South Carolina, it has hosted numerous amateur events and is also home to the Columbia College Koalas golf teams. The South Carolina One-Day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of  South Carolina One-Day Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course.

Winning the Prep Series was Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018) after shooting eight over par, 80. Runner-up today was Sydney Abruzzino (Myrtle Beach, SC 2017) after shooting 13 over par 85. Taylor Williams (Lincolnton, NC 2017) finished in third at 23 over, 95. Rounding out the field in fourth place was Lauren Nee (Cary, NC 2018) at 24 over par, 96.

Winning the Futures One-Day Series was Rachel Rich (Mt. Pleasant, SC 2020) after firing a strong 36 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine to finish at one over par, 73. Coming in second was Gaby Martinez (Mt. Pleasant, SC 2018), Gaby shot even par 36 on the back nine and finished at five over par, 77 for the round. Coming in third was Telie McCoy (Early Branch, SC 2019) after shooting seven over par, 79. Finishing in fourth was Mary Kathryn Talledo (Blythewood, SC 2021) after shooting nine over par, 81. Rounding out the top five was Kathryn Thorne (Bluffton, SC 2018) after finishing the round at 12 over par, 84.

The PKBGT South Carolina Series will be back in action on Saturday June, 18th at Woodside Plantation Country Club!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
