On Monday, May 30, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the PKBGT BELL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at Country Club of Salisbury. Salisbury, home of the Catawba College women’s golf team, was a tricky course for this three-day tournament. The event featured a field 45 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour. This was the 2nd largest and 4th strongest field of the 2016 season.
In the Bell Series, Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) shot two over par with a score of 73 to place first with a three-day total of 220. Callista Rice (Mars Hill, NC 2017) shot five over par with a score of 76 to place second with a three-day total of 222 and Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) and Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) both shot three over par with a score of 74 to place tied for third with a three-day totals of 224.
Also, congratulations to Emily Hawkins (Lexington, NC 2018) on winning the Bell Order of Merit. Her T-3 finish at the Bell Open propelled her into first after the final round! Great playing Emily!
PKBGT returns to action this Saturday, June 4th with the North Carolina One-Day Series @ Longleaf Golf & Family Club in Pinehurst, NC!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 450 members in 2015 and 450 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
