On Sunday, May 28, the 2016 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the second round of the PKBGT Collegiate Series at Country Club of Salisbury. Salisbury, home of the Catawba College women’s golf team, is a tricky Donald Ross layout for this 36-hole championship. The event features a field
12 players, and 6 teams.
Winning the Collegiate Series individual event was Ashlii Thompson (Browns Summit, NC 2013) with rounds of 67-73-140. In second place matching cards was Isabella Rusher (Salisbury, NC 2015) with rounds of 71-74-145. In third place was Whitney Stevenson (Canton, GA 2013) with rounds of 70-75-145.
Winning the Collegiate Series team event was the team of Ashlii Thompson and Alexandra Bare (Kannapolis, NC 2015). The duo shot a best ball total of -6 (136) to win by two strokes.
The PKBGT Collegiate Series returns to action on June 23-24 with its second event of the season at the Bryan Park Champions Course!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
