Update: Simpson, Alhemoud leading Black-Eyed Susan Classic

On Wednesday, July 29, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Black-Eyed Susan Classic at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club. The course hosted a USGA US Junior Girls Championship and is a fantastic course for Mid-Atlantic Series finale. The top-three finishers in the the Mid-Atlantic Series will receive invitations to the 2015 PKBGT Invitational. The event features a field 21 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

In the Prep Series after round one, Charlotte Simpson (Towson, MD 2017) is leading the field by three strokes at three over par with a score of 75. Not far behind Simpson is Gabriella Kim (Wayne, PA 2017) at six over par with a score of 78, Julia Calomiris (Washington, DC 2018) and Cassandra Lee (Wayne, NJ 2018) tied at seven over par each with a scores of 79.

In the Futures Series after round one, Julia Alhemoud (Pittsburgh, PA 2017) is leading the field by nine strokes at one under par with a score of 71. Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, VA 2020) and Natalie Welsh (Valencia, PA 2018) are tied for second at eight over par each with scores of 80.

Sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s are in the forecast for Thursday. Looks like a beautiful day for the final round!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
