On Saturday, May 23, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the PKBGT BELL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at Country Club of Salisbury. Salisbury, home of the Catawba College women’s golf team, is a tricky course for this three-day tournament. The event features a field 51 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event, ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings, is the third championship tournament of the 2015 season.
After round one, Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019) is leading the field by one stroke at even par with a score of 71. Not far behind Castle is Catherine Ashworth (Fuquay-Varina, NC 2015) at one over par with a score of 72 and Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) at two over par with a score of 83.
Sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 80s are in the forecast for Sunday. Looks like a beautiful day for the moving day!
