On Monday, May 25, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the PKBGT BELL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at Country Club of Salisbury. Salisbury, home of the Catawba College women’s golf team, was a tricky course for this three-day tournament. The event featured a field 51 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event, ranked by the GolfWeek/Titliest national rankings, was the third championship tournament of the 2015 season.
In the Bell Series, Catherine Ashworth (Fuquay-Varina, NC 2015) shot even par with a score of 71 to place first with a three-day total of 213. Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) shot two over par with a score of 73 to place second with a three-day total of 219 and Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) shot two over par with a score of 73 to place third with a three-day total of 223.
PKBGT returns to action in two weeks on Saturday-Sunday, June 6-7 with the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. The event brings together players North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
