On Sunday, May 24, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour concluded the PKBGT FUTURES OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at Sapona Ridge Country Club. Sapona Ridge, host to many Carolinas junior and amateur events, was a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event featured a field 56 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The event was the third championship tournament of the 2015 season.
In the Futures Series, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) shot three over par with a score of 74 to place first with a two-day total of 146. Rachel Kuehn (Asheville, NC 2019), Parker Melting (Mint Hill, NC 2018), and Carley Rudolf (Virginia Beach, VA 2019) tied for second, each with two-day totals of 153.
PKBGT returns to action in two weeks on Saturday-Sunday, June 6-7 with the Wolfpack Classic @ Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. The event brings together players North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers low cost, nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf.
