Preview: Metrolina Classic at Winthrop

On Saturday-Sunday, May 9-10, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Metrolina Classic at Rock Hill Country Club. Rock Hill, home to the Winthrop University women’s golf team, is a fantastic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field 40 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Series field features 16 golfers, highlighted by six of the top-50 players on the 2015 PKBGT Performance Index, including: Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2017) ranked 15th, Emily Cox (Lancaster, SC 2017) ranked 38th, Jensen Castle (West Columbia, SC 2019) ranked 40th, Caroline Cahill (Wilmington, NC 2017) ranked 41st, Ashley Czarnecki (Greenville, SC 2016) ranked 45th, and Kathleen Sumner (Charleston, SC 2017) ranked 49th.

The Futures Series field features 24 golfers, highlighted by a nine of top-15 players on the 2015 PKBGT Futures Series Order of Merit list, including: Emily Anderson (Matthews, NC 2017) in 2nd position, Madison Isaacson (Greensboro, NC 2018) in 3rd position, Muskan Uppal (Cornelius, NC 2019) in 4th position, Amanda Sambach (Davidson, NC 2021) in 5th position, Parker Melting (Mint Hill, NC 2018) in 7th position, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 8th position, Madison Elliott (Little River, SC 2017) and Haley McCrossan (Waxhaw, NC 2018) in tied for 12th position, and Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016) in 14th position.

The Metrolina Classic brings together players from Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great event!
