On Saturday-Sunday, April 5-6, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the Wolfpack Classic at Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State. Lonnie Poole, home to the North Carolina State University men’s and women’s golf teams is a demanding course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 80 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
The Bell Division field features 44 golfers, highlighted by last year’s event champion, Anna Redding (Concord, NC 2015), who will be defending her title, and 13 of the top-50 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Shannon Brooks (Vienna, VA 2015) ranked 1st, Redding ranked 2nd, Sarah Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 5th, Jessica Spicer (Bahama, NC 2016) ranked 7th, Elizabeth Bose (Norfolk, VA 2015) ranked 17th, Grace Yatawara (Salisbury, NC 2016) ranked 23rd, Alaina Yeatts (Durham, NC 2014) ranked 25th, Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) ranked 32nd, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 33rd, Savannah Gowarty (Raleigh, NC 2015) ranked 39th, Khushboo Thiagaraj (Haymarket, VA 2014) ranked 40th, Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) ranked 41st, ane Kayla Thompson (Clarkton, NC 2014) ranked 46th.
The Futures Division field features 36 golfers, highlighted by 10 of the top-25 players on the 2014 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) in 1st position, Sophie Holland (Cornelius, NC 2020) in 2nd position, Jillian Preisach (Fuquay Varina, NC 2019) in 4th position, Ellis Hunter (Greensboro, NC 2016) in 6th position, Mackenzie Battle (Aberdeen, NC 2018) in 7th position, Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018) in 14th position, Elizabeth Hall (Durham, NC 2015) in 15th position, Rebecca DiNunzio (Norfolk, VA 2019) in 20th position, Alexis Jarrell (Davidson, NC 2018) in 22nd position, Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) in 25th position.
The Wolfpack Classic brings together players from event brings together players from Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. The tournament is a qualifier for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship in San Diego, CA. It should be a great tournament!
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
