On Saturday, March 22, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Rocket Tour PLAYERS at the Creekside Course at Pebble Creek Club. The event features a field of 40 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
In the Bell Division, after round one, Virginia Tech committee Anne Taylor Hough (Spartanburg, SC 2015) is leading the field by 1 stroke at 1-over par 73. One behind is Furman committee Natalie Srinivasan (Spartanburg, SC). UAB signee Juliana Sebastian (Columbia, SC 2014) & Jaelyn Tindal (Rock Hill, SC 2015) are 3 shots off the pace after Day 1.
In the Futures Division, after round one, PKBGT newcomer Sarah Fite (2017, Russellville, KY) has 2-shot lead over multi-PKBGT past champion Woo Wade (2019, Dunwoody, GA). Fite shot a 6-over par 78 with Wade firing an 80. 2014 Futures Order of Merit leader Katharina Floyd (Chapel Hill, NC 2020) is 3 shots off the pace, with Melanie Burgess (2016, LaSalle, Canada) 4 shots back.
Weather for Sunday’s afternoon looks threatening so the play has been moved to a 8:30 shotgun start. We look forward to some great play to conclude the first championship event of 2014!
