On Saturday-Sunday, October 4-5, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the 6th Annual Jimmy Anderson Junior Girls’ at Jacksonville Country Club. The event is a partner event between the Carolinas Golf Association & the PKB Tour. The event features a field of 42 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The participants will be vying for four coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in November.
The field features 41 girls, highlighted by nine of the top-75 players on the PKBGT Performance Index, including: Emilia Migliaccio (Cary, NC 2017) ranked 5th, Jennifer Chang (Cary, NC 2018) ranked 8th, Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, NC 2018) ranked 17th, Rhea Bhatia (Wake Forest, NC 2015) ranked 34th, Holly McCann (Raleigh, NC 2019) ranked 36th, Killian Casson (Greenville, NC 2015) ranked 39th, Caroline Curtis (Glen Allen, VA 2019) ranked 44th, Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018) ranked 68th, and Megan Munroe (Raeford, NC 2016) ranked 72nd.
The tournament held ever year is to honor Jimmy Anderson, the former head golf professional at Jacksonville Country Club for over 25 years. Each Saturday morning, he conducted a junior golf clinic to help spread the game of golf to the next generation. During his tenure at Jacksonville CC, he taught many juniors including numerous future collegiate and golf professionals. Not only did he teach the game of golf, but was always there with a helpful word of encouragement to any young golfer.
The event brings together players from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The top-four finishers will each receive an invitation to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course). The event brings together some of the best golfers on the East coast and in the Midwest. It is a highly ranked event by Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, AJGA Performance Based Entry, and Junior Golf Scoreboard. This event should not be missed!
