On Saturday, September 27, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Fall Preview at Draper Valley Golf Club. Draper Valley, home to the Radford University men’s and women’s golf teams, is an beautiful course for this two-day fall qualifier tournament. The event features a field of 21 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf. The participants will be vying for five coveted invitations to the PKBGT INVITATIONAL at Grandover Resort (East Course) in November.
After round one, Moon Cheong (Charlotte, NC 2017) and Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, NC 2016) tied for first both at two over par with a scores of 74 each. Not far behind the leaders are
Kathryn Carson (Mooresville, NC 2017) at five over par with a score of 77 and Roshnee Sharma (Waxhaw, NC 2016) and Patricia Thompson (Hickory, NC 2015) both at seven over par each with a scores of 79.
Weather for Sunday’s round looks fabulous, with sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 70s. It should be a great day to conclude the Mid-Atlantic Fall Preview.
The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
