Preview: PKB Foundation Classic at Mid Pines

On Saturday-Sunday, February 1-2, the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour plays the PKB Foundation Classic @ Mid Pines Inn & GC. Mid Pines, a classic Donald Ross designed course in the heart of the Sandhills of North Carolina, was named “Best U.S Restoration of the Year” in 2013 by Golf Magazine. The event features a field of 43 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division field features 24 golfers, highlighted by six of the top 700 players ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, including: Nicolette Donovan (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 2015) ranked 309th, Victoria Allred (Pfafftown, NC 2014) ranked 317th, Grace Massengill (Hickory, NC 2016) ranked 518th, Siranon Shoomee (Sanford, NC 2016) ranked 546th, and Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) ranked 665th.

The Futures Division field features 19 golfers, highlighted by some of the top performers on the 2013 PKBGT Order of Merit lists, including: Madison Branum (Lexington, SC 2018), Hailey Freedman (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), Ellis Hunter (Greensboro, NC 2016), and Olivia John (Summerfield, NC 2018).

The PKB Foundation Classic @ Mid Pines Inn & GC brings together players from Florida, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. It should be a great tournament.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers. Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, the PKBGT offers affordable, high-quality nationally ranked girls’ golf tournaments designed to prepare junior girls’ golfers for high school and collegiate golf. The PKBGT is the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 400 members in 2013 and more than 200 alumni in the collegiate ranks.
