On Saturday, January 25, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Bulldog Classic @ University of Georgia GC. University of Georgia GC, home of the University of Georgia Bulldogs men’s and women’s golf teams and the 2013 Women’s NCAA National Championship, is a challenging course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 20 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
In the Bell Division, after round one, Savannah Hallman (Mt. Pleasant, SC 2014) is leading the field by one stroke at eight over par with a score of 80. Not far behind Hallman is Savanah Goodman (Easley, SC 2016) at nine over par with a score of 81 and Janet Mao (Johns Creek, GA 2015) at 11 over par with a score of 73.
In the Futures Division, after round one, Haley Grable (Bogart, GA 2016) has a commanding lead over the rest of the field at seven over par with a score of 79. Woo Wade (Dunwoody, GA 2019) and Kiana Jones (Columbia, SC 2016) are within a stroke of each other and will be dueling on Sunday for the runner-up position.
Weather for Sunday’s round looks warmer and less windy, with temperatures in the high 40s and sunny skies. It should be a great conclusion to the first event of 2014!
