Update: 2-way tie at Metrolina Classic

On Saturday, May 17, the 2014 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the first round of the Metrolina Classic at Rock Hill Country Club. The course is home to the Winthrop University golf teams is a fantastic course for this two-day tournament. The event features a field of 43 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 375 members in 2013 and 262 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.

The Bell Division, after round one, Annie Collom (Davidson, NC 2015) and Adeena Shears (Elizabeth, WV 2016) are tied for first at eight over par each with a scores of 80. Not far behind the leaders is Ashley Czarnecki (Greenville, SC 2016) and Ashley Sloup (Southport, NC 2014) tied for third at nine over par each with scores of 81 and Kate Collom (Davidson, NC 2014) in fifth place at 10 over par with a score of 82.

The Futures Division, after round one, Sarah Fite (Russellville, KY 2017) is leading the field by two strokes at 14 over par with a score of 86. Not far behind Fite, there is a three-way tie for second between Hannah Rose Bruxvoort (Chapel Hill, NC 2018), Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019), and Emma Turpin (Greenville, SC 2017) at 16 over par each with scores of 88.

Weather for Sunday’s round looks spotty with temperatures in the 60s but a high chance of rain. Despite the less than ideal forecast, it should be a great final day to the Metrolina Classic!

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour is an initiative of the Triad Youth Golf Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation aimed at increasing learning and playing opportunities for youth golfers.
